I had a great time in SF and the city was beautiful. Here are some interesting things that happened while I was there:

-I took a taxi for the first time ever
-Dogs were hanging out in the office
-I walked through the heart of Castro and stuck out like a sore thumb
-I unintentionally ordered and ate half a roasted chicken for my first lunch in Castro (I don't even really like chicken...)
-I got to hang out with Amy Ingols, who I havent seen in years, and her BF Justin
-A near fist fight took place two feet from my face

Since I've been back I've been trying to familiarize myself with the protocol of my new company and get to the point where I don't feel like an idiot. I like what I'm doing so far and I look forward to moving (but will miss our lil' place here and all of our friends and family).

San Francisco treat

I'm flying out to SF tonight to do some job training through the rest of the week and I decided yesterday that I have to get a haircut before I go. This could potentially be a very good idea...or a very bad idea. I have never met my new work associates so they might meet an "awkward-bad-haircut-Whitney" or a "super-awesome-hot-smart-Whitney". Eeek...

Appointment at noon...until then.

The new lazy

YES. That's exactly what is next in the land of combining television and every day appliances. Whirlpool presents the Flat Screen TV Microwave. Now you can absorb awesome TV-ness while your food gets cooked, all at the same time. OR, you can just watch what you're cooking inside. I grew up thinking that it was bad to be near the microwave for a long time while its running...I guess not. It seems that our great minds in America are really "nose to the grindstone" in regard to innovation. By the way, Whirlpool's motto is: "The power to get more done." Interesting...

Cruising to Koko's

Instead of walking to Albertson's this evening (1 block away) to return our Redbox movie, we thought we'd take our bikes since it had been a really nice day outside. After we returned the movie I had a brilliant idea...

Whitney: Scott, do you have your wallet?
Scott: No...wait, yes.
Whitney: Let's ride to Koko's! (short order Japanese kitchen)
Scott: YES!
--yes, we do get that excited about stuff like this--

So here we are, ready to ride off, thinking we're so awesome and spontaneous.

Whitney: Do you think it will be too cold when we ride home?
Scott: No, you have your coat on.
Whitney: But I'm wearing flip flops and my toes and my hands might get cold.
Scott: I'll ride back and get the car if it's too cold.
Whitney: Okay.

3 blocks later...

Whitney: It's pretty nice out. This is fun. Sheesh...look at those clouds over there. Oh well.
Scott: Yeah...

Upon arriving at Koko's and locking up bikes...

Whitney: Man, look at those clouds. **thinking** They won't come this way.

45 minutes later as we leave Koko's...

Whitney: SCOTT. It's snowing outside.
Scott: What?!

Yes, here we are, 7 blocks from home. Our return trip is all at an incline, I am wearing flip flops, I have no contacts in, it's snowing sideways and I am full of food. I'd like to think that someday I'll outsmart Utah's ever changing weather...but I know that in reality I'll probably make another dumb mistake like this in the near future. Despite everything, I think we had a great time.

A Happy Change

As I mentioned in my last post, I got a new job in San Fransisco. It's basically the same thing I've been doing here (health coaching), just for a cooler company--Well Call. I'm flying out to SF next week to train and then I'll work remotely until we move in August. When I told my current company that I was leaving, they scrambled to make me a better offer (cause I'm awesome). However, their offer just wasn't tempting enough.

I am SO excited to be working for a new company. I don't like training, but I'm looking forward to having a better job. For those of you who I didn't complain to about my current job...I was never able to get 40 hours with them even though I've been there for 10 months. Because of this, I had to work a few part-time jobs in the past year to supplement my income:

1. Nanny for rotten teenagers

2. Assistant chef at a Montessori

3. Seller of items on Craigslist :)

Aaaah...to have only one job. Bliss.

True holla, Paula!

I have many secret shames...and one of them is watching American Idol. I've never purchased an album by an American Idol winner and I don't really follow their careers, I just like hearing what Paula and Simon have to say after each song. Randy is just a tool. Who actually says things like, "Yo, yo, check it out, check it out, check it out..." in real life? Tools do.

Anyway, I was thinking...I'm kind of like Paula, not in that crazy, word vomit kind of way, but because I don't like to say things that would make people feel bad and I don't like to say "no". In other words, I'm a pushover and a wuss. I respect Simon because he says it as it is without regard to thousands of people booing at him. I would probably cry if everyone hated me like that.

I'm really trying to be more direct and less apologetic. For instance, I had to quit my job this week because I found a job in San Francisco that wants me to start working remotely this month. My first attempt to quit was pretty sad. I couldn't even really say I was leaving for sure, resulting in so much stress that I was shaking and got a stomach ache. My final attempt to quit was over the phone and I am proud to say, was a very strong statement on my part. What I've learned is this: Just do it. Wait, or is it: No pain, no gain? No, Say what you mean and mean what you say? Hmm, I know I learned something...

Back in the Habit

Ridicule if you will, but I LOVE Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. I got the DVD as a Christmas gift from Courtney awhile ago (right?) and I just watched it again last weekend. Lauryn Hill is so sassy and Whoopi rocks my world. I've included below some of my favorite scenes for all to enjoy. Sister Act 2, yet another reason why I like San Francisco.

HELLO SNOW

I went out to our car yesterday morning (in my flip flops, because I never check the weather reports) and it was COVERED in snow. Sick. Our little Oldsmobile was frosted on all sides by inches of snow. As I cleared off the heavy stuff I found ice fused to our doors and door handles. I wanted to take a picture, but I was too lazy to go back into the house for the camera. To those of you in California or the tropics (hi Leigh and Matt), be grateful. As for me, I will be grateful that I don't live in Alaska....or Minnesota.



P.S. Dad, I did change my shoes before scraping the car. Don't worry.
