Bus People: August 28th

37 weeks and 5 days

Today's appointment with the OB: doesn't look like labor is going to be happening in the next week. But I guess you never know. My doctor told me to take it easy for the next week because she'll be on vacation for Labor Day. I'm already taking it easy, so that won't be too hard.

Best news ever...we have a car (almost). It's in our possession, but we still need to get it smogged and registered...and then pay for it of course. However, I got to drive it to the doctor's office this morning and despite awful traffic it was nice to not be on the bus. Hallelujah.

Oh yeah...and I got a haircut last night. As usual, it didn't turn out how I imagined or how I requested it to be cut, but its an improvement over what I had before. It's about 3 inches shorter than I wanted it. Boooo. It's just a bob, which makes it easy to do, but at the same time it's a little boring. Here's to having the same haircut I had this time last year.

20 days to go

No news. I'm feeling the same, just walking around a little bit more. The baby's kicks are painful sometimes and bladder crushing all too often. But I can't complain. Anytime I think I feel back pain that may be labor related I feel ecstatic and frightened all at the same time. Eek. The changes that having a baby around here will create are something I can't comprehend. Let's hope I can function enough to shower regularly and eat something besides quesadillas. Not that that's what I'm doing now. I shower once a day...almost 100% of the time. And I stopped eating quesadillas last week. I cooked asparagus last night, big step forward.

I have weekly doctor's appointments now and will post updates if there is anything to update. Scott starts school tomorrow and is recovering from his cold...I think. We basically slept all weekend, which I had absolutely no problem with. The only downside was missing out on some fun activities we had planned. Harry Potter keeps getting pushed back, much to Scott's dismay.

Project Runway at last

The new season is finally here. And Lifetime didn't screw it up. Well, except for the graphic announcing that Project Runway was now airing that stayed on the bottom of the screen the whole time. I thought the premiere episode last night was pretty good and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season. More so, I'm looking forward to the cash money Scott is making from editing the online videos. What are we going to do with the money, you ask? Buy a car. Buy a car. Buy a car. Some of Scott's videos are up on the site now so you should take the time to enjoy them. He edited every video on the site and he shot the videos of Christopher, Logan and someone else. You can tell which ones he shot because they're the best. Just click HERE.

Scott is off this morning editing more videos, but he has a cold (that I gave to him...) and I feel bad that he couldn't sleep in this morning. Good luck today, Scott. Let's party tonight (and by party I mean watch a movie in bed while you enjoy the effects of nighttime cold medication :).

The most challenging thing I did today...

Put on and tied my walking shoes. Seriously difficult.

An evening with the Christophersons

I'm waiting for my Netflix instant viewing movie to finish buffering. The wireless internet isn't great downstairs so it goes out frequently and my Netflix movies have to constantly re-buffer. I'm watching a documentary called "Bigger, Stronger, Faster" on our laptop, feet elevated in the sky blue leather recliner that formerly belonged to my sister, but more formerly belonged to my Grandma Gray. Scott is 3 feet away editing his Project Runway online footage (of which I've seen none because I would rather shave my head than have any part of the season ruined for me...and he signed a confidentiality clause). We're both wearing earphones.

Tonight we ate Arby's, complete with fries and a milkshake. I eat an Arby's roast beef sandwich every few months. So sue me. I just finished off my fourth 24 oz water bottle and I wish it was still full. I could down another, but I would have to get up and walk upstairs for a refill. This time of night my belly feels extremely full and tight and my lungs seem to rest in my throat, so I don't like to move around much. Our activities this evening may be super nerdy, but it's what we're doing. And I'm pretty happy.

Bus People: August 7th

Rare opportunity to be on the bus coming home from the doctor. Not a great bus people photo, but I've got to work with what I'm given...especially now that maneuvering around the bus to get a good shot is not an option.
On a side note, right before getting on this bus I witnessed a girl fight in the Haight. I don't like watching fights, but it was kind of funny to see two girls swatting at each other.

At least it isn't strep

I started to come down with a cold yesterday and I can tell that it is worse today. Sneezing, runny nose, sore throat...run of the mill symptoms. As though I wasn't already uncomfortable enough. Psshh... Sleep should be very interesting tonight. I REALLY hope this is a short term cold. The ironic part of it all is that just yesterday I was supposed to start a "Cold/Flu Prevention" newsletter for work and I mocked the simplicity of just washing your hands and using common sense to stay healthy. Curses.

34 week check up

Everything looks good. Still on bed rest until I get closer to 36 weeks. Doctor gave me props for keeping the baby in. I guess that's an accomplishment...

Bad news: a mouse is back in our house. Found mouse droppings last night and wanted to punch the mouse in the face. We thought we were through with the mouse problem, but it appears that Ralph's cousins got wise to what a sweet place this is to live. We anxiously await the exterminator's visit.

Summer newsflash

I haven't spent much time at all writing about what has been going on in our lives over the past month or so. Here's a brief overview:

Scott: Went to Thailand in June for a documentary project. Came home in July and has been organizing and editing this film non stop. Also studying daily for the GRE and preparing his writing sample and personal essay for PhD applications in the Fall. Expanding his vocabulary through flash cards and showing off his 10 point words at every opportunity. Pumping iron on a regular basis. Hiding chocolate bars from his wife. Editing online material for the 2009 season of Project Runway. Other freelance jobs in the works. Cooking, cleaning, fetching water and various material goods for his big, pregnant wife. Used the phrase "a bad case of the runs" in a talk he gave at church. Jogging. Cycling.

Whitney: Waited for Scott to come home from Thailand. Obtained a double chin. Spent some non-emergency time in the hospital for fetal monitoring. On bed rest for 2 weeks now. Working from home in a reclined position (kind of like a beached whale :) . Coping with the insatiable desire to: A) drink water 24-7, B) organize, reorganize and re-reorganize, C) make lists, D) discuss organization ideas with Scott. Reading labor/delivery and post-natal information with Scott. Watching HGTV. Thinking about screen printing without being able to do anything about it. Budgeting. Dreaming of having a car. Tossing and turning.
