Human Rocket

Jones is crazy.
He is a wild ball of energy.
He is The Human Rocket.

I really tried, but I couldn't get a clear photo of The Human Rocket in his natural habitat.

"Horsey" endures a light beating from The Rocket.

This is how The Human Rocket stays so muscular and speedy.

Proof that Greta has worn pink at least once in her life.

Home at last and getting some rest

Don't forget about the other one

Dear Jones,

I'm sorry you are not the only child anymore, but we still love you. Your frustration tantrums are in full swing, making our home a little crazier, but you're still the best little boy in the world. And you no longer have an old man haircut, which is a huge plus. It's too bad I didn't take care of it sooner. :)

Thank you for being nice to baby sister and showing her your trucks. It's also sweet when you hug her goodnight and point out the fact that she has ears.

Love,

Mom

Four Years

Thanks to fantastic friends, Scott and I went out on a day date today to celebrate four years of total bliss. Haha. He's married to me, so that can't be totally true. :)

We went out for Japanese food, frozen yogurt and finished off the date with a trip to an antiques store. It was a super relaxing and most excellent anniversary date.

We found the following items for baby girl at the antiques store:

A tin keepsake box that matches Jones' orange tin box (also purchased on our anniversary at a flea market).

A vintage baby dress. Love it.

Scott is the best husband and I can't believe he puts up with me as well as he does. I love him very much and I look forward to this next year of marriage.

Almost there

Thanks to the lovely Lisa, I have finished 2 of 4 blankets along with a reversible baby sling
made mostly from scraps.
Fantastic.
I love, love them and am looking forward to putting them to use.
ANY DAY NOW.
Blurg.

I've also been making a few thousand felt bows and these are my "newborn" size. Super tiny. I tried my hand at flowers, but they came out way too big. Since when did I start doing girly crafts like this?

No Love

So...I posted about some Illustrator work I've done recently and I didn't get a single comment. Come on! Thanks, blog universe. Boo.

37 weeks...no belly photo

As of yesterday morning I'm 2-3 cm dilated.
I bought fabric that needs to be turned into 3 blankets, but I have a feeling it's not going to get done in time.
For starters, I don't even know how to make a blanket.
(I know what you're thinking, just sew two pieces of fabric together, dummy)

If Scott can wrap up his 20 page paper in the next day or two, maybe I have a fighting chance.

For the past two and a half days Jones has had some "bowel issues", if you will, from antibiotics. It has made him turn into some monstrous version of himself and he cries about everything. He never stops asking to watch "Buzz" and he pretty much hates his life in general.

As I was walking up the stairs from the laundry room yesterday evening I thought to myself, "4 loads of laundry, 3 baths for Jonesy, 2 cm dilated and a partridge in a poop tree."
Nice, right?
I'll go eat some more watermelon now.

(don't be fooled by this sweet face)

Scott's find

Please excuse my excessively wrinkled hand.

Scott went to an antique shop to find me a locket for Mother's Day, and this is the gem he brought home. I have been wanting a necklace like this for a long time. It was originally supposed to hold a photo of Jones (and Scott, I guess :). But now that baby #2 is so close, I'll be using the locket for Jones and the unnamed baby.

Scott kept the original photos in the necklace. He calls them Henry and June. I think she looks more like a Hester. This might be my favorite gift ever.

Mother's Day

To my beautiful mother, Nancy.
(1955-1999)

She has been gone almost as many years as I knew her, which is indeed a strange reality for me. I have never outwardly remembered her on Mother's Day and I'd like to start this year. I think I will have Jones help me make a card for her.

And here's to becoming a mother for the first time and looking forward to the second.
