Lounging

"Hello, and welcome to 'La Vie Riche'. A forum to discuss the finer things in life. I'm your host, Jones C. Today's topic: European cheeses."

"I'll take a root beer float, straight up."

Looks like he's working on something.

Cherishing every moment.

Until next time...

What we do if Jones won't nap

But can I eat it?

It starts.

Courtney is always sighing and shaking her head when Michael does something gross and fitting of a little boy. Something like this...

I always thought his antics were hilarious. And they were. Still are. I just picked up Jones from a nap, bounced him up and down for a minute and then he let out a huge burp. Immediately after his award winning belch, he chuckled loudly. I don't know why a 5 month old thinks burping is funny, but apparently he does. He's a boy. It starts.

The best photo I could get of him so far today.

Going International

These are our passport photos. Mine is nerdy. Jones' is hilarious. He had to sit on a stool to take it and he was very good about it. He looks so innocent in this photo, and yet at this very moment he is yelling in his crib because he wants to play, although he is clearly exhausted and in need of a nap. I guess his "understanding relationships" phase is kicking in.

Seeing these photos all in a row, it is obvious that Jones looks just like his pops. Minus the ears. Maybe he gets his yoda ears from me. But you'll never know because I don't put my hair behind my ears. Is it because they're disfigured and misshapen? Are they Dumbo-esque? It's a mystery.

We're moving to Thailand at the end of May, unless something unexpected prevents us from doing so. The plan is to live there for the summer and possibly beyond if Scott can defer from his Masters program. Scott wants to make a film about some of the people he met in Thailand during and after his mission. A more detailed description to follow. I am very excited about the move and all of the adventures that await us overseas.

Penguin

Jones is fast asleep (6:30 PM...aaah) so I came over to the computer to entertain myself for a few minutes and I notice this page open on our internet browser. Hmmm. What is this? The Original Penguin. Well, it's obviously a clothing store, but I've never heard of it before. What was Scott looking for? A swanky new suit? And PLEASE, look at the swanky new suit and scroll over the photo from behind. Why are those pants so tight on his thighs?! Weeeird. I'm going to go ahead and assume that Scott also wants this cardigan. The model in most of these photos seems like a bit of a chump. Scott, if I had the money, I'd buy you 100 cardigans. And a new pair of shoes to go with each one. Hope this post doesn't embarrass you.

Once upon a time I drew drawings

There was a time when I had time to draw pictures in Microsoft Paint. I think this one was in honor of a trip Scott and I were making to Sacto to visit family (oh the days before we had a car). It seems fitting that I should draw a picture of Jones in Paint. I don't think our Mac has Paint so I guess I'll be cracking open the old Dell.

In the meantime, here are some quick drawings I made for Scott this morning while he was out of the room for a minute. Needless to say, he thought they were hilarious. I can always count on Scott to feed my ego. If you don't want to see some slightly inappropriate humor...leave now.

I'm holding a baby. He's holding a Big Gulp and a cupcake.

Movie on the laptop.

Holding his book while he cracks open the door to answer an unimportant question from me.

No explanation necessary.

Small things...so happy

(a photo of the beach, because photos of the beach are sentimental & happy)

1. Jones' crib is on its way to our house via Amazon's free shipping. This means no more squeaks with every minute motion he makes...something I am currently hearing through the baby monitor. Aaah...

2. No more job. No more job. No more job.

3. Sunshine in SF this weekend. A delight.

4. Slooooowly losing weight. Slowly.

5. Living in Thailand this summer...?

6. An hour nap this morning while the baby napped. Much needed. Ask Scott. I was turning into this lady again.

7. Having more time to cook. Less money to cook, but more time to cook.

8. Jones' new rolling skillz.

9. Leftover mas sumun curry in the fridge.

10. Having Scott as my Valentine.

Groovy outfit Jones. Let's go play some frolf.

This is the first time Jones has worn shoes. I didn't even think to try any shoes on him yet because I assumed they would be too big. Not so. He proudly holds them high for all to see.

What? You don't think it's a good idea to pair the madras pants with tie-dye?

Very interested in these new things on his feet.

Yeah, it's ok for babies to wear sandals with socks. It's permissible for infants and geriatrics.

Honing scissor-kick skills.

"Just chillin' out, braaa. It's what this outfit was made for. Now go get me some wheat grass."

February 8th

I've been wanting Jones to wear overalls since he was born, but the ones we have are way too big on him. I made him wear some today anyway. They are short overalls, but they pretty much go down to his ankles...

He still looks like a champ in them.

These would look fantastic with the new shirt Mallory just bought for him. It's size 6-9 months, but if Jones is going to be a hip hop sensation...he's going to have to get used to wearing over-sized clothing.

Ah...so cute. Maybe the next baby will resemble me in some way so that I can claim the cuteness.

I feel compelled to make a drug-reference joke here, but I'm not clever enough to do it. Or perhaps I'm uncomfortable using the topic of drugs and babies for comedy.

I just remembered that Jones has a serious "Haight & Ashbury" outfit in his wardrobe (thanks to Mallory, of course) and I must definitely put on a fashion show with that piece of work tomorrow.

Brace yourself for some tie-dye.

Let's all just be glad that Jones is clean and sober. One day at a time, right?

(Ooh! I think I just succeeded with a baby/drug joke! Forgive its mild inappropriateness.)
