The Scott is home!

I picked up Scott from the airport last night and his sideburns are coming in nicely. However, his haircut is what he calls, "The Thai Soldier". We'll have to take care of that soon. :) Now that he's home and I'm in a better mood I can start blogging and doing bus people again. Scott doesn't have any pictures from his trip, but he does have a LOT of footage and we'll post some soon. He's in the other room snoozing because it's 11:30 PM Thai time.

I have decided to post some pregnancy photos because the ones I have up on the blog are from a long time ago and I have had some requests for recent ones. I generally don't take pictures of myself, but with Scott being gone, I figured the Photo Booth program was my best option.


Okay, so I'm only posting one. Perhaps more to come later. Thanks, Mallory, for pretty much the entire outfit I'm wearing. Happy Birthday to me!

The Cap-and-Trade Bill is Driving me Mad

This is how the bill is summarized, but it's all a bunch of crap:

"To create clean energy jobs, achieve energy independence, reduce global warming pollution and transition to a clean energy economy."

This bill will no doubt cripple our already sagging economy and put a ridiculous amount of control in the hands of the federal government. To anyone who voted for Obama because you thought it would be cool to have an African American in the White House, that it would show the rest of the world how far we've come with civil rights or because you just wanted "change" in general, without seriously looking into his policies, shame on you.

That's all I have to say about that...for now.

Post birthday post

No photos from yesterday. I'm usually the one taking pictures, so naturally none were taken as it was my birthday. I don't really want a visual reminder of the day anyway...bloated and large, who wants to see that? It was a fantastic birthday despite several things--no Scott, huge and pregnant, had to go to work. Here's a list of the great things that happened:


-Mallory made me a delicious breakfast (scramby eggs, english muffin, brownie with berries)
-Got a ride to work from Mall so that I could sleep in
-Scott surprised me with a call from Thailand (the highlight of my day)
-Coworkers brought in some nice treats for our work meeting
-Prenatal massage (thanks Scott!)
-Birthday treat from the Ullmans (accompanied by "Happy Birthday to You")
-Gift from the Ullmans (much needed maternity clothes and a baby romper)


Thank you to everyone who called, emailed and facebooked me with happy birthday wishes. Thank you for the gifts I received. I feel too old to get birthday gifts so I'm always really grateful to get anything at all.

06/16/2009:

i got a hair cut today and the lady cut off all my side burns. i look like a little thai school boy. we've been driving around with an undercover cop that fights against human trafficking. he's a pretty interesting guy but he refuses to speak thai and i refuse to speak english. ok i don't really, but he should just speak thai. lets face it, my thai is awesome, like my new hair cut. well, wish me luck with shooting.

I arrived to Chiang Rai safely about 5 hours ago, I think. I had to walk about two miles to get to the internet cafe. Thailand is so freaking hot! I've probably sweat about a pound off already. We met with the two guys that help the Akha and they were both helpful. They're lining us up with some Akha people who'll be in the film. We are renting a car tomorrow and then driving to the villages to meet some people tomorrow. That picture is hilarious by the way. Notice the sweatiness of my face. Don't have too much fun without me.

Scott is in Thailand for 3 weeks

In Capitola for our first real vacation together as well as our 2nd Anniversary

..and I miss him a lot already. He should be landing in the next hour and I hope to get an email from from him sometime within the next day or so. I don't know if he'll be able to call while he's there...sad. I'm lucky to live in a house with Mallory and Schuyler who can keep me company while he's gone.

He received a lot of support for this trip from family, friends and strangers and I know that he (as well as I) appreciate everyone who donated, wished him well or expressed interest in the project. I'll try to post updates from him, or Scott, if you're reading this, feel free to post if you have the time. I love you and I hope all is going well so far on your trip.
