Day 3 and a half

Furnished house? Check. Swimming pool nearby? Check. Really strange bachelor pad/Thai granny decor? Definitely check. We move in on Monday. Photos will soon follow.

Mallory, you can come visit now.

The only bad news is that I can't stay in this lovely hotel any longer and have room service.

Dinner tonight: papaya salad from a street vendor

Bedtime: T-minus 60 minutes...I HOPE.

Day 3 in Thailand

1:45 PM

I think its day 3. The days have blurred together. I have nothing exciting to report as my days have been spent either riding in a car looking at houses that won't work or being quiet in a dark hotel room while Jones sleeps. Getting him back on a good schedule and sleeping at night is a priority, so in the hotel I stay. Jones and I went for a swim in a beautiful hotel pool yesterday, so I guess that was pretty fun. Scott is out looking for housing with friends, pretty much status quo.

I just ordered some curry from someone who doesn't speak English. It's WAY to spicy for me to eat and I didn't order rice. So here I am in a dark hotel room with a bowl of atomic curry, no rice and a laptop. Maybe this isn't the adventure part of the trip. I think we're still in 'preadventure'.

Despite sounding negative in this post, I'm not having a terrible time. I'm trying to soak everything in and enjoy my surroundings, but its all a bit overwhelming. I am looking forward to getting unpacked and going out to enjoy the city and with a clear mind and rejuvenated body. Foggy is how I would describe my general state of mind. I have taken some photos, but don't want to look for the cord and run the risk of waking Jones.

The good news of the day is that a great house at a reasonable price is available in a safe neighborhood and we will look at it today at 6 PM. Hopefully we'll move in tomorrow or Monday. Also, I'm playing the piano in sacrament meeting at church tomorrow...we'll see how that goes.

From 6 AM to 8 AM

I don't have time to write about our experiences here so far, so please just enjoy some photos.

First thing this morning.

Hotel balcony.

6:15 AM Thailand time, 4:15 PM PST. Rough morning.

View from our hotel. Not great. We didn't choose this place for the view.

In front of the place we ate breakfast this morning. It's on the lower right-hand side of the photo above.

Breakfast today: fried rice fore me, basil chicken for Scott.

Some of Jones' local entourage.

Jones in front of our hotel.

Tired, but humoring me.

Swatting at the flies landing on his face.

Tired and hating on the flies.

We quickly went upstairs for the morning nap. Jet lag is a nightmare.

We're here.

Day 2 in Thailand. Hoping for a better day than yesterday. Jet lagged. In a hotel. House we planned to stay in did not work out. Good friends here taking care of us. No photos yet. Too stressed to get out the camera. Will try today. Jones is pretty much the most coveted baby in Ayuthaya. Strangers go crazy over him and try to hold him. Keep us in your thoughts/prayers while we look for a house to live in.

Literally just took these photos from our computer.

The hotel room. Boring.

Jones sleeping in his baby tent. Not fluffy donuts on the floor, comfy neck pillows.

The final hurrah

Our final outing in San Francisco took place at the Outerlands restaurant a few blocks from our house. Amy, Mallory and Schuyler were in attendance. Mallory isn't a fan of photos, so I take mercy on her and withhold all the shots I snapped of her.

May 19th

At Green Chile Kitchen

At Chile Pies (& ice cream)

We're still working out how to use our new camera lens well, thus the blurry photo(s).

The date went on to a stop at a local photo booth and ended with Iron Man 2.
We had a great time. Thanks for watching the baybay, Mall.

This morning

Well...I'm getting sentimental and sad about moving. As a result, I've been going overboard with the camera to capture the moments I'm afraid I'll forget.

Today we celebrate Jones' 8 month birthday and Scott and my 3 year anniversary. We woke up early, as usual. Jones had breakfast in bed. Then he played with toys/household objects/mom's foot until I felt awake enough to get up with him. Dad slept in and tried to ignore us through his headache. He was then treated to a scrambled egg and prosciutto breakfast, thanks to me and Mallory's unused food.

A fairly good start to the day.

Yesterday

I tried to capture some every day events in our house before we move. I'm no great photographer, but I really enjoyed these photos.

The lower lip

When Jones is tired or cranky and anyone asks him to "Say aaaahh..." he immediately makes a serious frown and pushes out his bottom lip to the very limit. It works every time and it's a sad face, but also pretty adorable.

If you do it too much he cries. Oops.

The state we're in

A bit packed. A bit messy.
I hate the feeling of dust on my hands after packing up junk.
I love that Jones just fell asleep without crying. Thank you, son.

Hello, Monday!

Our last Monday in San Francisco.
8 days to Thailand.
Lots to do.
Rain outside.
Good luck with school today, Scott.

Take that, Jones

I get one beautiful day of naps yesterday, so of course today had to be the worst day of naps. Multiple days of good naps is not Jones' specialty. For payback, I put a lady headband on him and paraded him around the room. It quickly turned into a dude headband. We took these photos for daddy who was at school all day.

Ready for some Jazzercise.

If Jones could talk, I think he'd say, "Hoist and raise the kiddies! Put 'im in the Boo box".
(Hook reference)

Eew. He puked.

Diamond Heights

Jones and I decided to get out of the house for a change. We joined Mallory and Schuyler for lunch and then went to the Diamond Heights cement slides. They were much faster than I expected, so Jones didn't so much slide down them as sit on my lap for a 3 foot stretch.

34 Weeks

Ah. A boy and his baseball. Jonesy boy is turning 34 weeks old tomorrow so I figured an update is due. Here are some details about our wee baybay.

1. Semi-crawling
2. Eats Mum-Mums and biter biscuits like its his job
3. Can swallow bites of bananas
4. Knows how to tip his sippy cup to get water
5. Favorite book is "What Does Baby Say?"
6. Finally napping for over an hour (sweet relief for mom)
7. Searches for desirable items that I remove from his sight (i.e. my glasses and the telephone)
8. Hates to put his arm through the arm holes in his shirts
9. Loves his new baby basketball
10. Enjoys blowing raspberries on my legs and arms
11. Mallory is his favorite friend
12. Despises chunky food like cottage cheese
13. Learning to use his pincer grasp
14. Bit me once (naturally I shouted, he cried and he hasn't done it since)

Ok, that's enough. I was really reaching for stuff there towards the end...

Scott is out of the house, baby is asleep. I will now enjoy a long shower and some 30 Rock, order of events TBD.
