Running

I almost titled this post "I waaaas run-niiiing!" because as I thought about running I immediately heard Forest Gump's voice in my head. But I thought that no one would get the reference. Probably a smart move.

Anyway, Scott and I have been exercising religiously and most days my workout is pushing the babes down to UW campus and back in our jogger (SO heavy). We go early in the morning and it makes me feel fabulous. I say "Morning!" to almost everyone we see (approximately 50 people) and almost no one reciprocates. Maybe I should say it louder. However, I did get one returned salutation from a very old man with a scruffy voice, wearing cordless earphones with a built in radio. As he walked toward and then away from us I could smell his coconut scented sunscreen and it was the best moment of my morning. Sunscreen is one of my favorite smells.

Post jog I let Jones play outside while I nursed Greta in a camping chair.  What a lovely day we're having so far.

P.S. Bethany, I'm sorry that Jones picked a flower from your pot.

Yin and Yang

Jones is a wild and enthusiastic child who is forever shouting "woo-hoo!" and other exclamations at the top of his lungs. He runs super fast and relishes a good crash. He pretends that he is a super hero at least 90% of the time that he is awake. The other 10% is spent throwing tantrums, watching Buzz, making pretend soup and eating.

Dear, sweet Greta is 2 months old now. She is calm, quiet and sleeps 9 hours at night. She smiles and coos when she is awake and grunts herself to sleep at naptime. Okay, sometimes she cries a little. She poops every other day. Seriously? She is awesome. When she does cry it's the cutest thing ever.

Both of our children are great, but they are very different at this point in time. Jones brings the excitement and Greta brings the adorableness.

It's 5:30 in the morning. Scott made it to bed about an hour and a half ago. I had already been asleep since 9:45 PM. Thank you Greta for sleeping 8.5 hours last night. I actually woke her up to feed her because I worry about her going so long at this age. Scott is presenting one of his films at a conference today (thus why he was up all night editing) and I am excited to see it. You should be too.

I just looked at the 5 day forecast and it's T-storms and mid 90s. Why? Why always the 90 degree weather WITH the T-storms? Ick. Next week will be full of one sweaty, sandy and damp kid and a bathtub that needs daily scrubbing. Speaking of the bath tub...

Bubble beard.

Unsure about why she is getting soaked.

P.S. Mallory, if you're reading this, stop working so hard and get back onto G-chat.

The park by the lake

So we've been hitting up a lot of parks lately. It kills time, breaks up the day and burns Jones' energy. Speaking of Jones' energy, the above shots were the only ones I could get of him. He wouldn't stop long enough for me to focus my lens. Greta, however, made a great subject.

today at the park

Greta, I'm sorry about your baby acne. I promise it will go away soon. And if it doesn't, I'm totally available to help you develop a stunning personality. Wink.

My hold baby

I'm glad Jones loves Greta, but he gets a little intense with her.
I think he'd smash her if I wasn't there to keep him in check.

I always say yes when Jones asks to hold the baby (in his words, "My hold baby"). He is always gentle and only sometimes pokes her eyes. She's still alive, so that's good.

Catching up

This is all I have time for tonight, but it's more than I've posted in a week.
I've borrowed a camera from a good friend, so some better photos are coming soon.
Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.

A preview

Life is still hectic as I finish unpacking the house. I'm aaaaaalmost there.
My camera is still broken. The iPhone has been a fair replacement.
Here is a preview of the grandparents' visit.
Grandpa and Greta spent a lot of quality time together.
More to come on Grandma's amazing contributions.

Moved in

We're in our new apartment, but not really close to being "moved in". More to come on the 4th of July, having parents in town and Greta updates.
